This session was recorded almost six months ago, in the backstage of Rotown in Rotterdam. Good friend and UROCK Cafe-owner Pieter Pin had been telling me to record a session with Brett Dennen for weeks, and after listening to his songs, I couldn’t find any reason not to. Rolling Stone magazine titled him ‘one of the ten artist to watch’. Well, you can watch him here.

Brett Dennen is a succesful singersongwriter from Oakdale, California USA. He toured with the likes of John Mayer, Colbie Caillat and Pete Murray, made appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien, Ellen DeGeneres and David Letterman, and released three albums so far.

It might be important to mention this session was recorded a little bit more than a month before Michael Jackson died/was killed/overdosed (choose whichever option you prefer). Dennen covered his Billy Jean, next to Paul Simon’s Duncan and Tom Petty’s I Won’t Back Down.

Duncan (Paul Simon)

I Won’t Back Down (Tom Petty)
