Tenfold is the moniker of Dutch singer songwriter Tineke Hussaarts. Last year she released her second EP Before We Go Somewhere, which she recorded at Alamo Race Track’s studio. The minimalistic approach and direct arrangements of the songs make her striking voice stand out.
Christof van der Ven originates from a small town in The Netherlands, but now resides in London. He toured as the support of the likes of The Staves and Bear’s Den and last year joined the latter band and has been playing one sold out venue after another.
Last November, I had a short visit in Glasgow to film with Doghouse Roses and asked Alasdair Roberts if we could meet up the following morning and film a couple of songs. So we did.
Last month Brooke Sharkey and I met in Amsterdam and filmed a couple of songs at the Backstage Hotel. She treated us to beautiful covers of Tom Waits and Lhasa de Sela.
Helge Slikker has been pretty busy over the past few years, composing for theater and film. I still have fond memories of the session we filmed in the early days of this website, so it was very nice to meet up again and film this one.
I went to Glasgow for a couple of days in November. The morning after I flew back, I managed to get myself out of my bed and on a train to Rotterdam, only because I was very excited about filming this session with the incredible Canadian band Elephant Stone.
Last November, I was invited by the Scottish alt-folk duo Doghouse Roses to attend the launch of their third record Lost Is Not Losing in Glasgow and to film a couple of songs some hours before. Watch album opener Pour and a stunning cover of Johnny Cash’s Ring Of Fire.
